On March 25, local time, the construction of the Rocky 150MW/300MWh energy storage project in Andiyan Prefecture, Uzbekistan, invested by China Energy Gezhouba Offshore Investment Co., Ltd. and constructed by the EPC general contractor of Central South Institute of Technology, began.
According to news released by China Energy Construction Corporation, on March 25, local time, the Central South Engineering College of Engineering started construction of the Lochi 150MW/300MWh energy storage project in Andiyan Prefecture, Uzbekistan, invested by China Energy Construction Gezhouba Ocean Investment Company and constructed by EPC general contracting.
According to reports, this project is the largest single electrochemical energy storage project invested by China overseas. This is the first foreign-funded grid-side electrochemical energy storage project started in Uzbekistan, and also the first overseas energy storage investment project of China Energy Construction.
It is reported that the energy storage project is located in Andijan Oblast, Uzbekistan, about 10 kilometers away from Asaka City. Covering an area of approximately 6 hectares, the total planned investment is US$140 million (approximately RMB 1.01 billion). The project uses electrochemical energy storage lifepo4 batteries and is equipped with a 150MW/300MWh energy storage system. It is connected to the 220kV side of the Lodge substation through a newly built 220kV booster station and a 220kV double-circuit transmission substation line about 6.1 kilometers long.
The project is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in December 2024. Upon completion, it will provide 2.19 billion kilowatt-hours of power regulation capacity for Uzbekistan's power grid, making the power supply more stable, secure, and sufficient.
